It is difficult to put a finger on what is special about the books from „Editions Bessard“. Obviously the publisher is very much willing to take risks, to experiment. Forever on the search for new ideas and young artists, Pierre Bessard has worked with all kinds of photographers and helped some of these become internationally renowned.
During his career he has produced works like Max Pam’s „Ramadan in Yemen, Doan na Champassak’s „Kolkata“, Xu Yong’s „This Face“, Ren Hang’s „The brightest light runs too fast“, Lin Zhipeng’s „Hidden Track“ or (as a result of his project „artists on residence“) Pieter Hugo’s „Flat Noodle Soup Talk“.
Most of these unconventionally designed photobooks were published as limited editions, often they are signed or include a numbered print making them rarities that are quickly out of print.
This makes us even prouder that we can now offer a selection from his publications:
