Peter Bialobrzeski visits Linz, Austria. It was a provincial and local government city of the Holy Roman Empire, and an important trading point connecting several routes, on either side of the river Danube from the east to the west and Bohemia and Poland from north to the Balkans and Italy to the south. Hitler considered Linz to be his hometown. Linz Diary was shot between 18th and the 29th 2017 and is the 14th instalment in the City Diary series.

“After [Hitler] integrated Austria into the German Reich, he wanted to turn the city of Linz into a Nazi-modeltown” – 3rd Oct 2019

City Diaries is a joint publishing project between The Velvet Cell and award-winning German photographer Peter Bialobrzeski. Releasing approximately two books a year, each diary focuses on a single city, somewhere in the world, against the backdrop of a rapidly urbanising world. All books in the series maintain the same size, dimensions and page count.

Peter Bialobrzeski is a world-renowned photographer and the recipient of several awards including the prestigious “World Press Photo Award” in 2003 and 2010. He is also the author of over ten photobooks, including “Neon Tigers”, “Heimat”, “Lost in Transition” and “Paradise Now”.
